These Birmingham addresses are not Life in the UK test centres
Every address below is an English language test centre, approved for the B1 Secure English Language Test. The Life in the UK Test is a separate exam, at separate venues, booked through a separate service and paid for separately — arriving at the wrong building costs you the appointment and the fee.
Nor is there a published list to compare this one with: GOV.UK states: "There are over 30 test centres in the UK. You can choose where to take your test when you book." Life in the UK venues are shown only inside the official booking service. How to find your Life in the UK test centre.

Booking a Birmingham centre
There is no central booking service for the English test: you book with the provider that runs the centre, in the name on the original photo identity document you will bring to it. These are the providers with a centre in Birmingham.
IELTS SELT Consortium
2 centres in BirminghamExam to book: IELTS Life Skills – B1 Speaking & Listening
Fee: IELTS does not publish a single UK price for Life Skills on ielts.org. The test is delivered by the consortium's partner centres and the fee is shown at the point of booking, so we have not stated a figure. Anyone quoting a fixed IELTS Life Skills price is quoting one centre, not a national rate.
LanguageCert
1 centre in BirminghamExam to book: LanguageCert International ESOL SELT B1 (Speaking & Listening)
Fee: From £160 for the two-skills Speaking and Listening exams at A1, A2 and B1. From £200 for the four-skills Academic and General SELT exams. LanguageCert presents these as 'Price from', so the amount can vary by location.
Pearson
1 centre in BirminghamExam to book: PTE Home B1 — speaking and listening
Fee: Pearson does not publish a flat UK price. Its own FAQ directs candidates to 'the price finder tool at the top of this page, or on our test centers and fees page', and fees vary by country and may include local taxes. We have not invented a figure.
Trinity College London
1 centre in BirminghamExam to book: Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE) Grade 5 — B1, speaking and listening
Fee: £160 for any GESE exam, including the B1 GESE Grade 5. £200 for ISE exams. An optional add-on called Exam Protect costs £35 on top of the exam fee and allows the candidate to book one retake and reschedule once.
On the day. Centres check identity and nothing else: take the original document you booked with, and nothing about your citizenship or settlement application. Trinity candidates sitting GESE must also complete a Topic Form in advance and bring it. Which documents count, what to do if your name has changed or the Home Office is holding your passport, and how to ask for reasonable adjustments are all on the B1 English test guide.
If Birmingham has nothing free
Any approved centre in the UK can be booked, so a full diary in Birmingham is not a dead end. The largest of the other listed places in West Midlands is Coventry, with 1 centre. These are ordered by how many centres each holds, not by distance — the file carries no coordinates, so no journey time is implied.
